アルが現役サーファーであった当時、リンコンでは普段6'1"のパフォーマンスボードを好んで乗っていたが、ある日、ロングボーダー達とのパドルバトルについに嫌気がさしてしまった。そこでアルが考えたのが、ロングボードのパドル力を誇り、ショートボードの反応性を保つハイブリッドのデザインであった。そのインスピレーションがかつての人気モデル、Ｍ13の開発へとつながっていった。
